His name is Lazahdaking. A 20 year old trying to tell his story and make it in the rap game.
I can tell he's not like a lot of these rappers trying to make it by telling stories about pulling triggers, slingin' rock, and gang banging - that's not his story. He's looking for a deeper meaning. Because that's what's real for him!
20 years old with his music on all platforms, his own record label, and still finds time to be in the Army National Guard and work at Chipotle! That's real grind and focus!

Me: What's your real name?
Lazahdaking: Larry Anderson
How did you come up with your rap name?
I just made it up I thought it was interesting and unique. [I] was in my room and decided to change my name cause I was called Buck at first, but that sh*t was too basic for me and I'm not a basic person, so I was like "Lazahdaking" is perfect for me. It separated me from a lot people I knew did music, just off the name alone.
I like your name. Buck would've been boring (laughs) Other than rapping, what do you do? Do you work?
Well, I'm in the Army National Guard/Reserves and I work at Chipotle.
How do you balance both?
I just keep strong and push through and I use my music as an outlet to keep me moving forward. When I hear myself on my songs I feel like I can really do anything. Some say I wouldn't do it. Some said I couldn't do it. But, I just keep pushing. I see bigger things for myself.
I see your influenced by artists like A Boogie wit da Hoodie, Drake, Kendrick, and Nas. What about these artists influence you?
A boogie with his flow, I love how he just rides the beat. Drake with his delivery, I try to deliver his punch lines and breaks down his sh*t, like, it's cool to me. Kendrick, his approach to music is serious and [I] feel like if I follow his mindset, I can be just as big as him one day. Nas is my favorite rapper ever, [so] just about everything, but mostly his swagger about how he wants his music done is something I like about him and something I wanna take away. But, with Nas it's his storytelling I feel like I wanna make a project that tells stories and make my audience think about what I'm trying to deliver and the message I'm tying to give is clear to the world.
So your style is storytelling?
With my project "Welcome to LazahLand," I was really testing my sound. To be honest, I don't know what my style is, I just feel a beat and whatever comes out, it's my style at the time. But, I'm leaning towards telling stories now or trying to give a message with every song.
So, you're still trying to figure out who you are as a rapper? How long have you been making music?
Yeah and like 7 years.
It seems like a lot of people are jumping into rapping now. Do you think that'll hinder you or help you?
I don't know. I'll just see where it takes me.
Is IEDRecords your record label?
Yes, it is. I have me and two other artists under my label right now.
That's wassup. How'd you get it started?
Just made it up and just kept a focus goal that I wanted. Asked around, networking and keep good ties with people and now boom, label. (laughs)
(Laughs) It sounds like you got everything coming together for you just by focusing!
(laughs) That's it. I never just think, i just do it.
How did it feel to get that distribution deal for Apple Music?
Umm... it was great forreal and it was tough as f*ck (laughs) Like I been waiting for a long time to get my deal with them, but now I'm good cause they gave me a shot and I'm not looking back now.
Never look back.
For what, it's no reason to.
I notice you keep saying 2018 is your year, why is that?
Cause it is. Imma do what I gotta do, to get where I want to be.
Who is your biggest motivator?
The sh*t I go through everyday or the sh*t I went through to get where I am. It wasn't easy. I don't sell drugs, I don't hold a glock or gang bang. Sh*t was just hard.
That sound like something J. Cole preach about! What is your newest album about?
I got an EP coming called, "No Lames Allowed" and it's just gon' be a project about how I don't want no wack ass people around me. It's going to have my single coming in May, "Wanna Smoke" on it. Imma be shooting a video for it soon.
What about "LazahLand?"
That's already out! I worked hard all 2017 putting that project together, just working on finding a sound for myself.
Are there any songs off of LazahLand that didn't make the cut?
Yeah, a few. But, like, I got over 250 songs on my computer and like 100 more that need to be recorded so..
Daaaaamn! Alright, last question. What's in store for 2018?
Just want everybody to be ready that's all imma say on that! (laughs)
Okaaaay! (laughs) You not trying to spill all the details?!
Nah, really, just know I'm coming this year and it's going to be crazy.
That's it for Lazahdaking! You heard it here, he has plenty more music coming out. For 2018, he's coming strong so watch out everyone.
Be on the lookout for his EP "No Lames Allowed" and listen to his album, LazahLand.
