Of course, I have to get the fellas input on tattoos and significant others. Some of these answers surprised me and some of them had me weak... like, really weak.
I interviewed 4 Fellas:
Guy 1: Dashawn
Guy 2: Strat
Guy 3: Mike
Guy 4: Turkwon
1. Do you currently have any tattoos?
> Dashawn: Yes
> Strat: I don't
> Mike: Nope
> Turkwon: Yes, I only have 1. It's on my right bicep.
2. Would you get a tattoo of your girlfriend/wife name? Why or why not?
> Dashawn: Not at all because I may never know what will happen to our relationship where if I have them stamped and I'm here looking dumb cause it's permanent.
> Strat: I would get a tattoo of my wife's name, because like tattoos, marriage is supposed to be forever.
> Mike: I don't think I ever will. Once their name is etched into your skin your lowkey their property now.
> Turkwon: No. Mainly because I'm not a fan of a name tattoos. I would get something to represent her or something that reminds me of her tatted on me though.
3. Would you get a matching tattoo with your girlfriend/wife? Why or why not?
> Dashawn : Yeah, it would be more universal so it can just stand alone if we were to depart, but it connects us because feelings and expression is art and in a way it connects us cause only we know what it means.
> Strat: I wouldn't get a matching tattoo with my girlfriend. I would get one with my wife. I'd do it if she wanted to, but I don't think I'd suggest it.
> Mike: Yeah, I'd be more open to that. It shows unity between us.
> Turkwon: Yes, because I think that's pretty dope. It has to be something cool and different.
4. What would it be?
> Dashawn: Umm... good question. Something like King and Queen. Or some quote... a symbol.
> Strat: The infinity symbol
> Mike: Intertwined zodiac signs
> Turkwon: Mhm... good question. Well, we have a thing where she's always cold and I'm always warm. So, I think like she have a flame tattooed on her somewhere and I'll have something that represents cold like a snowflake or something. So, it would be a way of having her with me all the time.
5. If you got the tattoo of your girlfriend/wife name and y'all not together anymore, would you get it removed? Covered up?
> Dashawn: Covered up probably
> Strat: No, I wouldn't get it covered because tattoos are art, like raps and portraits. They're representations of a moment in time.
> Mike: Hell yeah!
> Turkwon: More than likely, yes.
6. How would you react if your girlfriend came home with your name tatted on her?
> Dashawn: I'd be honored, but the good person in me would tell her to remove it cause it ain't right.
> Strat: I'd feel like I was doing something right.
> Mike: I'd honestly be mad... as f*ck. Like you're not my apartment, so why is my name on the lease?
> Turkwon: I would definitely think it's a sweet thing to do, most definitely. I would just tell her that I wish she would of talked to me about it first because that's something that doesn't come off.
7. If you had a daughter and she came home with her boyfriend's name on her, what would you do?
> Dashawn: I might kill her, but Imma tell my wife, get your daughter. Straight like that, might chop her damn arm off
> Strat: I would ask her if she was a pregnant... I would ask my daughter that because tattoos like kids are forever.
> Mike: She'd get shunned for a month, then when the month is over she will go on a strict raw mean and unsweet tea diet for another month. Then after THAT month is over, I'd yell at her and ask any questions I have
> Turkwon: She can get a tattoo when she's 18, but not a tattoo of her significant other. I would take her right back to that tattoo place and get it covered.
8. If you had a son and he came home with his girlfriend's name on him, what would you do?
> Dashawn: He getting his a** whooped up for getting any other b*tch instead of his mama. And getting it covered up.
> Strat: I would ask my son why he put his girlfriend's name on him before he put his mom's name on him
> Mike: He becomes a grown man if he makes that decision... Cause he gon' be getting the f*ck up outta my house if he do something like that.
> Turkwon: Same exact treatment.
9. Some couples get tattoos of a ring on their ring finger. How do you feel about that?
> Dashawn: That's cool for them. I can't speak for them and what they do, but it's pretty smart cause you can't lose that. It's there for life.
> Strat: I feel like that saves a lot of money
> Mike: I think that sh*t tight as f*ck! I don't know why, but I always did... No bs. You can't lose a tattoo.
> Turkwon: I think that's a good idea actually. I wouldn't do that personally though.
10. What would you do if you find out your girlfriend has a tattoo of her ex and she refuses to get it removed or covered up because of money and pain?
> Dashawn: I'm breaking up with her cause she can't let go of the past. I'm all about moving forward and if you focused on what was, then we should never be, ya dig.
> Strat: I would never judge her or love her less because of it
> Mike: Cause her more pain by breaking up with her foolish a**!
> Turkwon: Well, to be honest., I would initially feel weird about her wanting to keep her ex man on her body. As a man, I would always think of that and see that tattoo. So, it would bother me. I don't want her to do something she doesn't want to do. As we all know, women are more intact with things physically and mentally then men are so a tattoo of my body would be easier to remove and go through that pain for me than my girlfriend or wife. That's just what I think. Also, it would depend on her body language and the way she delivers her response.
That concludes this edition! Thank you to all the fellas who gave their input. Fellas, how you feel? Ladies, do you agree?
Would you get a tattoo of your significant other's name or a matching tattoo?
