Here on 'Review of the Week,' I'll be giving my take on the premieres of shows and new movies that come out, that I've actually watched! First up, Grown-ish!

GROWN-ISH

On Wednesday, the series premiere of 'Grown-ish' (spin-off of Black-ish) aired on Freeform, formerly known as, ABC Family. It was a 2-part premiere, 30 minutes each. Although, some critics had some bad things to say about the show, I actually really like it & now I can have something to watch on Wednesday's, along with Law & Order: SVU.

(P.S. All the episodes are named after song titles; ex: Late Registration, B*tch Don't Kill My Vibe, If You're Reading This It's Too Late, etc.)

The first episode, titled "Late Registration," shows first time college student, Zoey Johnson (Yara Shahidi) experience first day struggles already; calming down your parents, trying to figure out where all the cliques are, #ootd (outfit of the day), first class of the day, making that first new firend, and of course, "Late Registration."

Not only was it funny, but it showed how her first impressions of the 'six losers' was a little misconstrued because of her own insecurities and how they would soon end up being the 'closest people in her life.'

These people include Nomi, a bi-sexual Jew, who doesn't mind doing what she wants, when she wants, and how she wants; Jazz & Sky, the twin sisters that run track and act one way, but is very hood; Lucca, a weed smoking, 'I don't give a f***', and can rock anything kinda guy; Vivek, a straight A, Gujarati-Indian drug dealer, who looks up to Drake; and last, but not least, Aaron, an avid Black Lives Matter supporter who wears a bracelet for his peanut allergy and of course, Zoey's secret bae!

Grown-ish did a great job depicting how going to college for the first time really is for some kids. Although, I never experienced the registering for classes part. All my classes were given to me and then I registered online; nonetheless, some students do that, though! But, the whole cast of Grown-ish showed aspects of college that most parents don't know and most children try to hide. Yes, some kids do drugs in college, whether that's weed, acid, cocaine or whatever else. Some do it for the high, some do it to stay up, and some do it for stress. It shows the highs and lows of looking for an approval from not only your peers, but your family, too!

I can't wait to watch the next episode!
